Who provides the service
Turismo Onix Patagonia is the trading name of Richard Bladimir Almonacid Baeza, Chilean tax ID 16.365.122-K, based in Cochrane, Aysén Region, Chilean Patagonia. It is listed in SERNATUR's national registry of tourism service providers.
Official channels: WhatsApp +56 9 6216 1256, email turismoonixpatagonia@gmail.com and Instagram @turismoonixpatagonia. Any booking or payment agreed outside these channels is not the company's responsibility.
The tours
We run two tours to the Calluqueo glacier. Both leave from and return to Cochrane on the same day.
- Glacier Front. Easy, 5 hours in total, 1 km of walking. Minimum 2 travellers. Departures between 8:00 and 16:00.
- Andean Lagoon. Easy to moderate, 7 hours in total, 12.5 km of walking. Minimum 3 travellers. Departure at 7:00.
Both include a local guide, technical gear and the boat crossing of Lake Calluqueo. Andean Lagoon includes food; Glacier Front does not, and each traveller brings their own food and water.
The maximum is 20 travellers per departure. The season runs from October to May and always depends on weather conditions.
Bookings
Bookings are made on WhatsApp, by email or on Instagram, stating the tour, the date and the number of travellers. A booking is confirmed when we reply confirming availability.
We do not ask for a deposit. The full amount is paid on the day of the tour, before departure.
Each tour needs a minimum number of travellers to run. If that minimum is not met, the traveller chooses between rescheduling for another date or a full refund of what was paid.
The reference minimum age is 10 and depends on the tour: families with younger children have done Glacier Front. Message us with the ages in your group and we will tell you which route fits. Minors take part accompanied by their guardian, who completes and signs the form on their behalf.
Prices and payment
2026 season rates, per person, VAT included. Each tour has two options:
- Glacier Front: $110.000 with transport from Cochrane, $90.000 without transport.
- Andean Lagoon: $160.000 with transport from Cochrane, $140.000 without transport.
We accept cash in Chilean pesos, bank transfer and cash in US dollars. We issue a boleta or a factura, whichever the traveller needs.
Rates may change from one season to the next. The price that applies to a booking is the one confirmed in writing when it was made.
Transport and meeting point
With transport: the guide picks the traveller up in the morning, either where they are staying in Cochrane or at any point they choose within 25 km of the Plaza de Armas in Cochrane. The exact place and time are agreed on WhatsApp when the booking is confirmed.
Without transport: the traveller makes their own way to the meeting point, which is also arranged on WhatsApp when the booking is confirmed.
Departure happens at the agreed time. A delay may shorten the tour or make it impossible, because the day's timing depends on the boat crossing and on daylight.
Changes and cancellations
If the traveller cancels:
- More than 7 days in advance: 100% refund.
- Between 48 hours and 7 days before: 70% refund.
- Less than 48 hours before: no refund.
- Failure to show up at departure time: no refund.
Date changes: free of charge with at least 7 days' notice, subject to availability.
If Turismo Onix cancels because of weather, lake conditions or any safety reason: full refund of what was paid, or rescheduling for another date if the traveller prefers.
If the minimum number of travellers is not met: the traveller chooses between rescheduling and a refund.
Safety and the guide's decisions
The activity takes place in the mountains and on the water, in a natural environment. Risk is reduced by safety standards, but it is never eliminated completely.
Before the activity starts, every participant must complete and sign the registration and risk acceptance form required by Decree N°222 of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism. Without that signed form, taking part is not possible.
We provide the technical gear — helmet, trekking poles and life jacket — and wearing it is compulsory on the sections the guide indicates.
The guide's decisions on site are binding for the whole group, including postponing, shortening or calling off the activity. They are made for safety reasons and are not grounds for complaint.
Personal travel insurance is not compulsory, but we recommend it.
Each traveller is responsible for their own belongings during the tour.
Conduct during the tour
During the activity, and within the glacier area, the following are not allowed: smoking, drugs or alcohol; lighting fires (Law N° 20,653); bringing pets; making disruptive noise; feeding native wildlife; and removing or damaging archaeological, paleontological or historical remains.
Unless the tour is private, everyone keeps to the group's pace, which includes waiting for slower members.
We require respect towards the guides and among travellers. No discriminatory conduct on grounds of gender, race, nationality, religion or sexual orientation is tolerated, nor harassment of any kind.
Turismo Onix may end the participation of anyone engaging in such conduct or putting the group at risk, with no refund and without prejudice to any legal action.
Photographs
During the tour we take photographs of the activity, which we may publish on this site and on our social media to show the work we do.
If you would rather not appear in them, tell us before departure or during the activity and we will respect that, no questions asked.
Personal data
The data on the registration form — including health information and the emergency contact — is used only to run the tour safely and to respond in an emergency. It is seen by the guide in charge and by Turismo Onix's administration.
It is not shared with third parties, unless required by an authority or needed to deal with an emergency. It is kept for five years and then deleted.
To correct or delete your data, write to us at turismoonixpatagonia@gmail.com.
Complaints and suggestions
Complaints and suggestions are received by email at turismoonixpatagonia@gmail.com. We reply through the same channel.
Tell us the date of the tour and what happened. If something went wrong, we would rather know.
Validity of these terms
These terms are governed by Chilean law and apply to every booking confirmed from the date of publication.
We may update them; the version in force is always the one published on this page, with its date. A booking already confirmed is governed by the terms in force when it was confirmed.
